About Us
Lago Alianza was created from a simple but powerful belief: that nonprofits are stronger when they work together. Across the Lake Chapala region, organizations address urgent needs in food security, health, education, animal welfare, the environment, and culture. Each does important work on its own, but together they form a lifeline for our community. Lago Alianza exists to connect, support, and amplify those efforts so they can have a deeper and more lasting impact.
We are working to strengthen direct services in the region by building the capacity of local organizations to grow their reach, strengthen their leadership, and secure the resources they need to thrive. By serving as a hub for collaboration and learning, Lago Alianza helps reduce duplication, fosters partnerships, and ensures that community challenges are met with coordinated solutions.
Our approach is rooted in humility and respect. The Lake Chapala region is home to both long-established Mexican families and one of the largest U.S. and Canadian expat communities in the world. We believe that the most sustainable progress comes from listening to each other, valuing local knowledge, and finding ways to bridge differences. Lago Alianza is bilingual, inclusive, and committed to honoring the strengths that every group brings to the table.
One of our cornerstone initiatives has been the 2025 Nonprofit Survey, which gave us the first region-wide snapshot of nonprofit capacity, funding, and needs. The findings are already shaping conversations about sustainability and collaboration, and they will guide our efforts to create meaningful programs and direct donor support where it is needed most.
Lago Alianza partners with nonprofits to identify aligned funding opportunities and build strategic, sustainable approaches to financial growth. Our focus is not just on securing funds today, but on helping organizations strengthen the systems and strategies that ensure long-term stability and impact.
Ultimately, Lago Alianza is about building a stronger future together. By creating a trusted network where nonprofits, donors, and volunteers can unite, we aim to ensure that the Lake Chapala region remains not only a beautiful place to live, but also a community where every person has the opportunity to thrive.
